Careers Programme Information

The careers education, information and guidance programme is designed to meet the needs of each and every

learner at Langham Oaks. It is scaffolded to ensure progression through activities that are appropriate to

our learners’ stages of career learning, planning and development.

     The main aims of the careers provision at Langham Oaks are to:

  • Develop and maintain a culture of high aspirations through a fully embedded careers education, advice, information and guidance programme.

  • To raise and track learners’ engagement within the careers programme during their journey through Langham Oaks and evaluate to ensure that learners are supported in raising their aspirations whilst being mindful of the ever-changing and competitive world around them.

  • Build a continuously increasing and relevant network of partners and providers who can engage learners in developing their career pathways. These partners will work in partnership with subject areas/key stages to develop collaborations enabling opportunities for learners to see clear links between their subject learning and the world of work.

At Langham Oaks, we provide a wide range of careers support and activities. Our careers' programme includes:

  • 1-1 and small group careers guidance;
  • Students from Key Stage 4 groups are provided with a guidance interview from our independent and impartial Preparing for Adulthood Adviser for Children & Young People with Disabilities, Ru Riddleston. Ru can explore ideas and support with researching options. All students are offered a guidance interview in Year 11 to support with post 16 choices.
  • Students will be supported in preparing for these meetings by Langham Oaks' staff member Kate Hart or Ross Tweed who coordinate careers in school.
